James Tavernier has shared a message of support to Rangers fans around the globe amid the coronavirus crisis.

With Scottish football on shutdown the staff and players at Ibrox are in isolation at their homes but Light Blues skipper Tav took some time to think about the Gers faithful during this tough time.

He said: “There is a lot of uncertainty and worry for everyone around the world right now. I know what an institution like Rangers means to our loyal fans but football must be secondary right now. It is vital that we follow the advice of the government and medical experts to beat this virus.

“Football and sport in general, play a massive role for the health and wellbeing of millions around the world. Both physically and mentally, sport unites us all. This virus is impacting everyone in all aspects of life.

“Naturally, we are all concerned for our family, friends and loved ones but hopefully in time, we’ll be able to get back to normality. Let’s look forward to getting back to the joy of being back out on the pitch and supporting our team.

“As players we’re in constant contact with the club as this situation changes. We’ve been given specific fitness and dietary programmes to follow in the coming weeks and all the lads are communicating with each other and with the staff. The programmes are geared towards us being in the best possible physical condition and we are looking forward to being back together at the club soon.

“We are ready for the challenges of the current season being completed as soon as it’s safe for everyone to do so. Rangers wouldn’t exist without its fans and we want to return when it’s safe to do so infront of our unbelievable fans, and certainly not behind closed doors.

“In closing, please look after yourself and your loved ones. Stay safe and follow your local government guidelines. Thank you to the medical staff, and all key workers in the UK and across the world.”
