Christopher Jullien has admitted it’s been tough trying to fill his days to keep his fitness up during self-isolation – but the Celtic defender insists a bit of healthy competition amongst the Hoops squad is keeping him motivated.

All Parkhead players, along with coaching staff, are locked down at home due to the coronavirus outbreak and with government advice allowing the public to leave their home just once a day, there’s only so much players can do to keep ticking over.

French ace Jullien has revealed that Celts fitness bosses are keeping tabs on the squad at all times.

Speaking to Celtic TV, he said: “Everything is fine here. I’m with my kid and my girl. We’re getting used it. I know it’s difficult for everyone but we’re just trying to keep busy and see what will happen next.

“I’ve spoken to a lot of friends and family. It’s still the same for them over there in France. They’re locked down as well and trying to do the best they can. It’s difficult for everyone to stay in the house every day. It’s hard to get used to that new life, but all my family and friends know the risks and what could happen so we’re all obeying the guidance.

"It’s really difficult. I have some stuff in my garage – a bike, a running machine and some weights to exercise.

"You can’t do much. You have your exercise when you go out but we want more. We want everything. I can’t want to get back on the field.

"John Currie (Celtic’s fitness and conditioning coach) has been looking after us by sending us texts to see how it’s going and what you’re doing. He’s almost doing a little competition for who is running the most so it’s really good for the team.

"It’s not the same when you’re not on the field with the boys but hopefully we can get back to that soon."

Jullien added that he can’t wait for the Scottish football season to get back up and running again.

He said: “I can’t wait to see you all back out there at Paradise again. Please stay safe. Stay home and take care of yourself and your family. Stay positive and believe that everything is going to be fine and you’ll see us again out there on the field.”
