THE Italian top flight could be back in action by June 13 after a vote was successfully passed by clubs to resume the current campaign.
Of the 20 Serie A sides, 16 submitted a ballot to restart the season on that date, with the other four voting to continue playing the following weekend.
However, the decision still needs approval from the Italian Government.
Clubs will be back training as of May 18 after sports minister Vincenzo Spadafora confirmed that the government and the Italian Football Federation have put guidelines in place for medical protocols that must be adhered to.
If a single player or staff member tests positive for Covid-19 then the entire squad will have to go into quarantine for 15 days.
A statement from Serie A read: "Regarding the resumption of sporting activity, in accordance with the decisions of the Government and in compliance with the medical proposals to protect players and all involved personnel, the date of June 13 has been indicated for the resumption of the league."
