LEAGUE reconstruction in Scotland could be back on the cards after Hearts owner Ann Budge was given the green light to draw up a proposal by other Premiership clubs.

The 12 top-flight teams and Championship winners Dundee United took part in a conference call on Friday afternoon, where the possibility of implementing a temporary change to the SPFL pyramid was discussed.

According to the BBC, clubs including Aberdeen, Celtic and Rangers backed the Tynecastle chair's call for the issue to be revisited after the league reconstruction taskforce failed to garner enough support from Premiership sides.

Now, Budge will work on a document to explore the issue once again.

Hearts are currently bottom of the league and, if the season is brought to a premature end, the Gorgie club will be relegated to the Championship - unless reconstruction can be pushed through.

A 14-14-14 set-up is considered to be the most likely structure to gather support, although alternative ideas such as a 14-14-16 structure that would include Brora Rangers and Kelty Hearts, remain possible too.
