Odsonne Edouard has admitted he struggled to adapt to life at Celtic in the early stages and even found himself doubting his decision to join the club on loan from PSG.

The prolific Frenchman signed for the Hoops on loan in 2017 but was unable to dislodge Moussa Dembele from his spot and even had Leigh Griffiths often playing ahead of him. That lodged some worries in the strikers' mind before he eventually settled into the role and became a top player where he's scored 62 goals from 126 games and became a £30million player.

It did take him some time, though, and - speaking to French podcast Destin 2 Pro via Celtic France - Edouard revealed he relied on former Arsenal defender and Hoops coach Kolo Toure for help.

“When I first arrived at Celtic it wasn’t easy," he said. "I played three-four games and after I wasn’t even on the bench. Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths scored a lot. There was competition in the team. It was a difficult period for me.

“I was lucky to have Kolo Toure on the staff. Kolo helped me a lot, talked to me all the time. After training, I stayed 30-40 minutes with him to work more. I never gave up, I stayed focused and serious. I was waiting for the manager to give me a chance to shine. The most important thing is to take your chance.

“The manager came to see me in the middle of a week and told me I was going to start at the weekend. Two weeks before, I played with the reserves. I was angry and disappointed. I was thinking about lots of things at this time: ‘Why did I come? I should have stayed in Paris.'

"I said nothing and I worked hard. I was determined, I gave everything, it’s now or never. I take this chance."
