Malky Mackay has been installed as the new favourite to become Dundee United's new manager.
The Scottish FA performance director has been out of work in a managerial sense since leaving Wigan in 2015. Mackay is an experienced boss and has managed in the English Premier League with Cardiff City.
Bookies have taken a flurry of bets on Mackay this week and, as such, have moved him into the frontrunner's spot (6/4) ahead of Lee McCulloch (6/1), Derek Adams (9/1) and Joey Barton (12/1).
Craig Levein is another who recently discussed the role at Tannadice, admitting he would 'never say never' to a return. The Tangerines have been on the lookout for a new manager since Robbie Neilson departed for Hearts.
Mackay's most recent turn as a manager came in the caretaker's role at Scotland following Gordon Strachan's departure, ending in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Netherlands in a friendly.
