Ex-Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday insists he'd be happy to see Lawrence Shankland sign for the Light Blues because he's got a 'knack' for scoring goals.

Dundee United's hotshot hitman scored 29 goals in 35 matches last season for the Tangerines after joining from Ayr following a two-year stint where he bagged 63 strikes in just 68 matches in all competitions.

The fact that Shanks - now a Scotland international and goal scorer - managed such an impressive tally playing for a decent Ayr outfit and United in the Championship, Halliday believes he'd get even more opportunities in the top tier at Ibrox because of the talent around him.

"I would [take him at Rangers]," Halliday told Si Ferry on Open Goal. "He's done it wherever he's been and he looks like the type of boy that, if he gets chances, he's going to score. If you're at a bigger club you're going to get more chances.

"He's just got the knack for scoring goals and that's something that's hard to find. There's hundreds of strikers that don't even have that. I think no matter where he's going to go, he's going to score goals."
