ALLY McCOIST has joked that he is going to call Scott Brown to gloat about being ranked 23 places above him in a list of the top 100 players to have played for Scotland.

In a countdown of the best players to have pulled on the famous navy blue jersey, Rangers hero McCoist was ranked 15th, while Celtic captain Brown was 38th.

Speaking on talkSPORT, McCoist told how he would be ringing up the Parkhead skipper to inform him of the rankings.

He said: "Is wee Broony down at 38th?

"I will have to give him a call and give him some.

"Twenty three places ahead of Broony, that will do for me."

Kenny Dalglish was ranked Scotland's greatest ever player with Denis Law and Graeme Souness coming second and third.

One man who wasn't on the list was talkSPORT host Alan Brazil and fellow guest Jamie O'Hara was quick to have a pop at the former striker.

He said: "Ally you came in 15th place, so Ally you are a top, top player. Al, I'm afraid you weren't even on the list.

"I am amazed they even managed to fill the top 100 Scottish players."

In response, Brazil said: "I will just rest the boots on the table and say who in the big league in England got 28 goals one season.

"And hang on a minute, Scott Brown has been fantastic for Celtic hasn't he?"
