Celtic hero Emilio Izaguirre is considering interest from the MLS and Colombia as he weighs up his next move - but it WON'T be to fierce rivals Olimpia.

The former Hoops left-back most recently played for Motagua in his native Honduras but is now on the lookout for a new club. He had also been linked with local rivals Olimpia however a source close to the player has told H&T Sport it would be 'impossible' for the 34-year-old to make that move, especially while there is still interest in Motagua in keeping him around.

An insider said: "With Olimpia it's impossible, it would be very difficult especially if there is still interest from Motagua. But there are offers from Colombia and the MLS."

Izaguirre has been hoping for a switch to the USA to play in their top league but is yet to agree any sort of deal at any club. He is also wanted by an unnamed side in Colombia.

We told recently how Izaguirre was involved in a horror derby last year between Motagua and Olimpia where three supporters died and the defender was treated for glass shards in his eye following an attack on the club bus.

He discussed the nightmare derby with H&T Sport, saying: "I cleaned it out and luckily it wasn’t an overly serious injury. Never before had anything like this happened in Honduras but it happened and I hope to God nothing like it ever happens again. I don’t know why it did, whether anti-social people went into the wrong area and trouble broke out, I'm not sure. But it’s in the past."
