PARTICK THISTLE have announced that six players will depart the club when their contracts expire at the end of this month.

The Jags offered short-term extensions to players whose deals were running out on two occasions: first extending them until the end of June, then giving the players an extra month once those deals ran out.

Four first-team players - Alex Jones, Darian MacKinnon, Tommy Robson and Steven Saunders - will now leave Firhill at the end of July.

Additionally, two youth players - Evan Galasso and Ruaridh McIntyre - will depart the club.

Thistle also confirmed that they remain in talks with 33-year-old winger Joe Cardle, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the month.

In a statement on the club's website, the Jags thanked the departing players for their service.

"With Scottish League One season 2020/21 this week confirmed by the SPFL as scheduled to start in October, the club has been continuing preparations for the upcoming campaign," it read.

"Manager Ian McCall spoke with each of the seven players who have contracts which expire on 31st July 2020 to discuss their futures with the club.

"Alex Jones, Darian MacKinnon, Tommy Robson and Steven Saunders will leave the club at the end of the month following the expiry of their contracts.

"Modern apprentices Evan Galasso and Ruaridh McIntyre will also be leaving the club at the end of July.

"We thank each player who will be leaving the club this summer for their contributions in red and yellow and wish them the very best for their respective futures in the game.

"The club is presently in discussions with Joe Cardle."
