CONNOR GOLDSON has taken to Instagram to reveal that the Rangers squad was “hurt” by some negative reactions to their support of Black Lives Matter.

The Ibrox side took the knee of solidarity with the anti-racism movement during their two pre-season clashes with Lyon and Nice.

But the on-field gesture led to a social media backlash, which Goldson has been vocal about on Instagram today.

The English defender firstly posted an image of himself taking a knee during the Veolia Tournament and wrote: "Let’s try again. The hate and ignorance in the comments of the last picture were disgusting but not surprising. This isn’t about politics it’s about equality!!! We all need educating, myself included!"

The former Brighton ace then posted a screenshot of a reply to his post, in which a user said the defender should "leave our club ASAP".

Glasgow Times:

Goldson responded: "I'm not doing this for attention, or for anyone to feel sorry for me.

"But these are fans of OUR club. I know it's a minority and I'm not suggesting otherwise, however as a majority who stand by us we need to make a stand to be heard.

"What I will say is players see these comments and they hurt us!"

Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo backed up his teammate by commenting: "Leading the way big bro."
