STEVEN Gerrard admitted he was the proudest man in Glasgow tonight as he watched Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson lift the Premier League trophy.
Gerrard was unable to watch his former club's 5-3 triumph over Chelsea in their final home game of the 2019/20 season live.
The former England midfielder was in the dugout at Ibrox as his own side romped to a 4-0 win in a pre-season friendly against Motherwell.
However, the 40-year-old, who was unable to win the English title during the 17 years that he spent in the Liverpool first team, watched the match when he got back home.
He confessed he was delighted to see a Reds skipper hold aloft the trophy for the first time in 30 years.
Asked by Premier Sports after the Motherwell win if he was disappointed the miss the Liverpool game, Gerrard said: "It is on record. I will go back and watch it. I will watch the highlights and I will see Jordan lift the cup. There will be no prouder man in Glasgow tonight than me.
"They have been the best team for some time now. They are champions of Europe and they have gone and backed it up by being the champions of England. I am very proud of them. They are a top team, have a top manager. Hopefully they can go on and build from this now."
