NEIL LENNON is hoping to confirm Albian Ajeti’s loan move to Celtic from West Ham by the end of this week, and he has also told Leigh Griffiths that he still has a future at the club.

Griffiths looked sharp as he came off the bench for Celtic to lay on two goals for Patryk Klimala in a 3-1 friendly win over Hibernian, his first appearance since being left behind as Celtic went on their pre-season tour of France.

Despite the re-emergence of the striker, reports in England today suggested that a deal had also  been done to bring in former Basel forward Ajeti on a temporary deal for the season with an option to buy for £5m next summer as Lennon looks to bolster his attacking options.

While admitting he had discussed bringing the player in with Head of Football Operations Nick Hammond and chief executive Peter Lawwell though, Lennon said: "I'm not aware of that. I was talking to Nick and Peter on Monday and hopefully we will have some sort of resolution this week.

"You can't have enough good strikers in the building. Leigh has missed a lot of football over the last few years but at 29 he is still at his peak. He just has to maintain that now.

"But it doesn't change the fact we will look to bring one in. Bayo is out with a hamstring injury but we are hoping he will be fit at some stage next week.

"But that game will have done both Leigh and Patryk the world of good.

"Leigh was great. He looks great and it's the best I've seen him in a long time, in terms of how he looks in his conditioning.

"I am delighted with his response in terms of what we've asked of him.

"He just has to maintain it now as he will be a real asset for us - no question.”

Despite his impressive return to action, Lennon said that Sunday’s season opener against Hamilton may come too soon for Griffiths.

"We will see how he is in the next few days and how he is feeling,” he said.

"He thinks he might need a week to 10 days, or something like that.

"But we will gauge that as we go.”
