Rangers have today confirmed the signing of Blackpool striker Tony Weston.

The youngster completes his move from Bloomfield Road for an undisclosed fee.

We told recently how Gers hoped to bring the player to Ibrox and they have now got their man. And he goes straight into the club's academy side.

Craig Mullholland, Head of Academy, told Rangers' website: “We are really pleased that Tony will join Rangers when international clearance is received.

“Given the high level of interest from several clubs, it is further testimony to the development programme we can now offer, that Tony has chosen Rangers. Successful cross border player trading is important at all levels of the club and our recruitment team are doing a terrific job in identifying and securing talent.

"Tony is a player who our scouts have been working on for some time and he has a burning desire to be successful and play for a club like Rangers which is absolutely critical.

“Tony has a terrific relentless attitude and a natural enthusiasm to play and when exposed to the environment at Rangers Academy we believe will lead to an exciting future for both the player and the club.

"We are delighted to welcome Tony and I know all of the Academy staff very much look forward to working with him.”
