Andros Townsend reckons Celtic are a bigger club than Rangers as he weighed in on the recent 'bigger job' debate between Bournemouth and the Light Blues.

The Crystal Palace and England winger was discussing recent comments made by Jamie O'Hara where he claimed the Cherries would be a bigger job for Steven Gerrard should he be offered the chance to move to Dean Court from Ibrox. O'Hara said: "I wouldn’t want to disrespect the Rangers people because they are a huge football club. But it’s a bigger job to potentially be the Bournemouth manager. Rangers are a huge, huge football club but for me there’s only two clubs in Scotland.

"With Bournemouth, they’ve just dropped out of the Premier League, to get them back into the Premier League, they are a higher profile football team. I would take the Bournemouth job, it’s a bigger job."

And after Gers hero Ally McCoist slaughtered the former Spurs midfielder, Townsend was asked for his own opinion. "Rangers is the bigger club, Bournemouth are in the better, stronger division," he told talkSPORT. "For a normal manager I would say, if you want to prove yourself as a manager, go to Bournemouth.

"But for Steven Gerrard, I think he's got more to lose if he was to go to Bournemouth. I think he's happy where he is at Rangers, he'll finish first or second and then hopefully one day he'll take over at Liverpool." It didn't take long for Townsend to back-track, admitting: "Do you know what? I'm going to put my hands up, I genuinely forgot Bournemouth got relegated. Have we got that truck noise? I'm going to reverse."

When provided a quick-fire round of 'Which club is bigger', Townsend suggested Rangers are a bigger club than Leeds Utd, Aston Villa, Everton and Newcastle. However he claimed his former employers Tottenham and current club Crystal Palace are bigger than the Glasgow side.

Then, when put on the spot over Celtic or Rangers, Townsend instantly replied: "Oh, Celtic," laughing: "You are setting me up for absolute abuse."

We told recently how McCoist was not happy with O'Hara's thoughts. "If ever there was a case for a talkSPORT broadcaster to be breathalysed and drug-tested in the same movement, for having an opinion as stupid as that, yesterday was that particular occasion," McCoist said.

"In all seriousness, I'm all for everybody having an opinion. Unless it's Jamie O'Hara talking about Rangers and Bournemouth. Have you ever heard anything as ridiculous in your life? The Billericay Town manager trying to work out who the biggest club is between Rangers and Bournemouth. Holy moly guacamole..

"I never heard it but as soon as he opened his mouth, my phone started bleeping. Saying, 'Who is this diddy?' I was going to go right above Jamie's head, certainly a public apology of some description should be made the following day."
