Celtic target Ivan Toney was left out of the Peterborough squad again as they took on Mansfield Town in a friendly last night.

Posh won 2-0 but the striker was nowhere to be seen for the fourth game in a row. Manager Darren Ferguson recently claimed he wants business to be done as soon as possible and it appears Toney will not be a Posh player much longer.

The Scot admitted he would not be picking Toney in his squads until his future had been resolved and the club knew whether he'd be sticking around or leaving, in which case he would not star.

The Hoops failed in an early bid for the attacker, as we revealed recently, but are believed to have gone in for him again with an improved offer. Celtic are understood to have offered around £4million initially with add-ons that would see the deal cover more than £6million. But Posh are holding out for closer to their asking price of between £9-10million.

Herald and Times Sport exclusively revealed that Parkhead is Toney's preferred option with Brentford also keen. Gavin Strachan, who previously worked with the player at Peterborough, could sway any deal as well as Champions League action.
