STEVEN GERRARD is confident Rangers have learned their lessons against Livingston after an ‘eye-opening’ first encounter at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

The Gers lost 1-0 to Livingston two years ago as Dolly Menga netted the only goal of the game but Gerrard saw his side earn a 3-0 win at the same venue later in the campaign.

Rangers won both away fixtures – by 1-0 and 2-0 margins – on their travels last term and now face Gary Holt’s side aiming to continue their fine start to the season.

Meetings with the Lions have often been bruising and combative affairs in recent times but Gerrard is confident his side have what it takes to make it four from four in the Premiership so far.

He said: “You try and learn very quickly. There's no doubt that our first visit to Livingston was an eye-opener for some individual players and the staff.

“It is a different challenge on the Astroturf. But after that 1-0 defeat, we've actually had some really positive results there.

“That's because we've gone with the right mentality and focus. We've stood up to the physical challenge, matched Livingston in terms of the battle. Then when the time has come, we've shown our quality.

“That's what we'll be looking to do again on Sunday. Livingston will try to take us out of our comfort zone.

“They'll try to turn the game into their style. So we need to be ready for that and match it.

“If we do, our quality will come through at the right times.”
