IANIS Hagi believes he is in the right place to grow as a footballer after hailing the “extraordinary” Rangers atmosphere.

The Romanian signed for Steven Gerrard’s side in the summer following a loan deal cut short by football’s shutdown and is currently on international duty as Romania play in the UEFA Nations League.

And Hagi, who scored against Hamilton at the weekend, thinks there is no place better for him to grow as a footballer than at Ibrox.

He said: "The atmosphere around the club at Rangers is extraordinary, even with no fans just now.

"The Rangers supporters live for the club 100 per cent and they pass that passion on to us.

"They gave me a sensational welcome and, as a young footballer, there is no better place to play football. I am growing every day there.

"When I was at Genk, I think I grew a lot physically in the six months I spent there. Even my time at Fiorentina I learned a lot too. I've experienced Champions League football which was terrific.

"At these clubs, I believe I did my job, but was not given an opportunity, which wasn't to do with me."
