CELTIC target Mitchel Bakker could be set to stay at Paris Saint-Germain this summer - with the Dutch full-back keen to remain in the French capital and fight for his place in Thomas Tuchel's squad, according to a report.

The Scottish champions have already seen a loan bid for the 20-year-old booted out by the Champions League runners-up, with Sky Sports reporting at the weekend that the "door was not shut" on a potential move.

That gave the Parkhead club renewed hope of securing a loan move for the former Ajax defender, but those hopes have now hit a snag with Bakker apparently determined to stay at the Parc De Princes and fight for a place in the starting XI.

NOS Sport reporter Thierry Boon tweeted: "Celtic seems to want to rent Mitchel Bakker from PSG.

"The left-back rules out a (temporary) departure. "I'm going for a chance in Paris.""

It is believed that Celtic want to bring in a new left-back as a matter of urgency this summer, with Boli Bolingoli expected to leave Parkhead before the window closes.

The Glaswegian club were heavily linked with a move for Hearts' Aaron Hickey but appear to have missed the boat on the talented youngster, who is expected to sign for Bologna in Serie A in the near future.
