STEVEN DAVIS last night equalled Northern Ireland's all time appearance record as he matched the benchmark of 119 appearances set by Pat Jennings.
Davis made his international debut in 2005 and has been a key figure since, ultimately becoming captain of his country.
The Ibrox midfielder has also enjoyed a stunning club career for both Rangers and Southampton.
During his time in the Premier League, Davis starred alongside the likes of Victor Wanyama and Morgan Schneiderlin. But according to Scotland and Manchester United hero Darren Fletcher there was only one player that opposition players feared.
Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “When he was at Rangers, the Rangers players raved about him.
“When we used to play against Southampton when he moved to Southampton, people talked about their stars who ended up being sold on for big money, their midfielders.
“He was the hardest to play against, by far. He was their best player.
“So Wanyama went to Tottenham and Schneiderlin went to Manchester United, for me playing against Southampton when they had all them Steven Davis was their best midfielder.”
