Celtic have had a second bid rejected for Charlton's Alfie Doughty.
Herald and Times Sport understands the Hoops made a second offer for the midfielder after their initial bid was booted out by the Addicks. However their second attempt, believed to be in the region of around £650,000, has also been kicked into touch.
We told recently how manager Lee Bowyer admitted they had received an offer from Celts for Doughty, 20, but were not interested in the reported £400,000 fee the Scottish champions had brought to the table. And it is understood they are holding out for more cash, though they still do not want to lose the player.
Doughty's contract at The Valley expires in June 2021 and Neil Lennon's side could potentially offer the midfielder a pre-contract in January and steal him away for nothing next summer.
Luton Town have also had an offer rejected for Doughty this summer.
