RANGERS have been handed a boost ahead of their Europa League qualifier against Lincoln Red Imps on Thursday afternoon after Steven Gerrard revealed Alfredo Morelos will be available for selection.

The Colombian striker had to be stretchered off against Dundee United last weekend following a rash challenge from Ryan Edwards, leaving the forward with a gash on his leg.

That led to questions over Morelos’ availability for his side’s first European outing of the 2020/21 campaign but Gerrard confirmed that the 24-year-old will be fit enough to play in Gibraltar.

Gerrard said: “We will make a decision on the team when we need to.

“In terms of fitness, Alfredo is with the group and available for selection. All our focus is on trying to qualify for the next round.”

While Morelos has been given the all-clear to take part in the Europa League tie, Gerrard will be without the services of Ryan Jack and Brandon Barker, both of whom hobbled off against United on Saturday.

“Jack will be missing for a few weeks with a calf problem, Barker will also be missing in the short-term with a calf problem,” Gerrard added.

Centre-back Leon Balogun is expected to be fit for the game on Thursday after picking up a niggle in the warm-up at Ibrox last Saturday, while Allan McGregor will be named in the squad having not featured in the starting line-up since Rangers’ opening day victory over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.
