Steven Gerrard has refused to be drawn on Preston midfielder Daniel Johnson as Rangers hope to improve their squad.
The Jamaican has been a top priority for Gers this summer and could still make the move north. Preston boss Alex Neil revealed there had been no concrete offers for any of his players, but it is believed the Light Blues are ready to swoop for the player who has scored 43 goals in over 200 appearances for his club since his move to Deepdale in 2015.
He is still considered a key man for Neil, though, and it will take a significant fee for Preston to part ways. Gerrard, though, was not willing to discuss the midfielder as he insisted it would 'not be respectful' to do so - though he admitted again that he wants reinforcements.
Asked to provide an update on DJ, Gerrard said: "No, and I won't mention any of the targets we're pursuing. I don't think that's right or respectful so I won't be mentioning any names today. But again I'll say we are looking to add to the squad."
