JAMES TAVERNIER is confident an 'amazing' Rangers squad are on the right track this term after an encouraging start to the campaign.

Steven Gerrard added the likes of Jon McLaughlin, Leon Balogun and Kemar Roofe to his ranks this summer as he prepared for his third season in charge.

Rangers head to Hibernian on Sunday top of the Premiership having not conceded a goal in their opening seven league fixtures.

And captain Tavernier is pleased with the strength and depth that Gerrard has at his disposal as the Gers look to end their long wait for silverware success.

Tavernier said: “I believe this season that our squad has got even stronger. The management, the recruitment and the board have done an amazing job to find the players that we need and to bring them in.

“We have obviously been hit with a few injuries and you have seen the players that have come in to replace them and the people that have come back from injury.

“We have got an amazing squad this season. It is only right that it is showing on the pitch this season because we have got a great squad pushing each other on every single day on the training pitch.

“If the squad is rotated, like it was [on Thursday night], the players are coming in and doing the job that the gaffer wants. It is really good and it is really exciting.”
