LIVINGSTON forward Alan Forrest says he and his team-mates can take heart from their 3-2 defeat to Celtic as their performance showed they have what it takes to go toe-to-toe with the best Scotland has to offer.

The winger, who sealed a move to the Tony Macaroni Arena this summer from Ayr United after signing a pre-contract agreement back in January, started the game on the bench but was brought on for the last 15 minutes as Gary Holt’s side pushed for a share of the spoils on Saturday afternoon.

That equaliser would never arrive as Neil Lennon’s men held on for the three points but Forrest reckons that had his side had an extra slice of luck, they could have returned to West Lothian with more than a defeat to show for their exertions – adding that Livi can build on their display.

“This is a hard place to come to get a result, so there wasn’t really much expected of us,” he said. “But I thought the boys put in a shift and maybe on another day the boys might have got something out of the game.

Glasgow Times:

“We took the lead and then they came into the game, as they do. They got their goals and we could easily have buckled but I thought we hung in there and we had our chances.

“We could maybe have done better with a couple of those chances at the end and, as I said, we could maybe have got something out of the game.”

Forrest continued: “There have been a couple of games this season where we have been a bit unlucky. We’ve been playing some good stuff but we need to tighten up as well.

“We’ve been losing too many goals which have been killing us, but I’ve noticed a difference, coming here and getting some chances.

“This is a good one to build on – knowing that we’ve come here and put in a good shift.”
