Jon Flanagan is expected to make a move to Amiens in France's Ligue 2.
The former Rangers defender has been without a club since departing Ibrox at the end of last season. He had been linked with a potential reunion with former Gers teammate Joey Barton at Fleetwood Town, where another pal in Clint Hill also works as assistant boss.
However, according to reports in France with Le11Amienois, Amiens boss Luka Elsner wants the ex-Liverpool left-back to join up with his side.
A deal is reportedly close to being done this week for the 27-year-old with the club hoping to conclude it as soon as possible.
Flanagan played 39 times in two years for Rangers after joining under former teammate Steven Gerrard. He also counts Bolton and Burnley among his former clubs.
Meanwhile former Amiens player Bongani Zungu - a Gers transfer target - has knocked back the offer of a new deal with the club.
