Celtic fans held their collective breath after the Premier League 'welcomed Edouard' to English football.

Hoops supporters flooded the Prem's tweet with worried messages after Chelsea unveiled Edouard Mendy at Stamford Bridge. The league on social media simply wrote: "Welcome to the #PL Edouard", striking fear in the minds of Celtic fans.

Their striker, Odsonne Edouard, has been linked with a move to the top tier of English football, with Arsenal, Aston Villa and Leicester City just three clubs rumoured to be interested in his services.

The Frenchman, of course, starts in Latvia against Riga this evening in Europa League action. But that didn't prevent fans from jumping on on the Premier League, urging the league not to scare them again.

One fan joked: "Please in future put Mendy after it. All of us Celtic fans on here just about sh** ourselves simultaneously."

Another added: "Ya f***er! Near s*** myself there #donttouchfrencheddy".

One commented: "OMG I nearly had heart failure", and a fourth laughed: "I did too hahaha".

Edouard Mendy put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Chelsea in a move from Rennes.
