BRANDON BARKER admits it is now or never for his Rangers career as he looks to make the most of his second chance under boss Steven Gerrard.

The winger celebrated his 24th birthday by netting his first goal of the season as he added to James Tavernier’s penalty and sealed victory over Ross County on Sunday.

Barker endured a frustrating debut campaign at Ibrox last term as he struggled to regularly earn a place in Gerrard’s side but recent weeks have been more encouraging as he has impressed in the Gers attack.

And now the former Manchester City kid is determined to prove his worth in the long run for Rangers as he looks to become an integral part of the Ibrox squad.

Barker said: “It is always good to get off the mark and it has taken me a little longer than I thought it would. The first goal gets you going and hopefully more will come.

“I think I am happy now. It is not that I wasn’t happy with my football last year, it was just that it was a difficult transition leaving my family and stuff.

“I am over that now, my family is with me and I just feel happier. I am buzzing to play for such a massive club and I just want to give my all for Rangers.

“Definitely [this has to be the time to make my mark]. It is now or never really.

“I want my career to elevate and the players that we have here are special players. There is no denying that. The competition is good and it brings out the best in everyone, which is really good.

“It is always good when the manager believes in you. It is what makes you, what gives you confidence and the ability to go and express yourself on the pitch. I am delighted with that and hopefully he keeps continuing his faith in me.”
