Odsonne Edouard has spoken for the first time since his positive COVID-19 test, thanking fans for their support.

The French striker was diagnosed with the virus this week on international duty with the under-21s squad.

Celtic’s top marksman is to self-isolate for 10 days after the French Federation confirmed the news.

But now the 22-year-old has thanked supporters for their well-wishes and urged them to keep themselves and their families safe during the pandemic.

Posting on social media, Edouard wrote: “Thank you all for your messages of support ! I'm fine and I would come back stronger, Take care of yourself and your family,” accompanied by a prayer and love heart emoji.

Fans shared more messages with their player, who faces a sweat to be available in time for the first Rangers derby of the season on October 17.
