Rangers are 'set to offer Ryan Kent a bumper new deal' to fend off interest from Leeds United, according to a report.

The Whites have been keen to bring Gers' playmaker to Elland Road and had a £10million bid booted out this summer. Manager Steven Gerrard went as far as to issue a hands-off warning over the winger. Now, though, Football Insider claim that the Ibrox outfit are ready to hand Kent a new contract to keep him in Glasgow.

The player's current deal runs until 2023 but a wage hike and an extension would make it even more difficult for Marcelo Bielsa to land him. It has been reported that Kent has a £20million release clause in his deal, which could also potentially be re-negotiated. The 23-year-old recently told how he wanted to stay at Ibrox to repay his manager and the club, and 'do right by them'.

We told how Leeds were shown the door with a £10million offer recently. Kent joined the Light Blues for £7million, with any switch to the Premier League at that cost not representing the sell-on value Gers would want.

He has already scored five goals in 11 games this season.
