ANDREW CONSIDINE savoured a dream Scotland debut as he helped Steve Clarke’s side to victory over Slovakia at Hampden.

The Aberdeen stalwart was handed his first cap for the Nations League clash and equipped himself well on the step up to international level.

Lyndon Dykes netted the only goal of the game to ensure that Scotland built on their win over Israel as attentions now turn to the visit of the Czech Republic.

And Considine hopes he has done enough to impress Clarke and earn another outing following a long wait to be handed his national debut.

Considine said: “It was emotional, to be honest. It’s been a long time since I was involved in a Scotland set-up.

“You always believe that one day you’ll get the call. I’m 33 and it came out of the blue.

“To be part of such a great win and keep a clean sheet it’s a fantastic night.

“It was very nerve wracking, I’m not going to lie. But to have the quality around you to get you through the game, I’ve also got enough experience playing European football.

“To play alongside some top-class footballers really helps.

“I hope I stay in the squad. That’s the main thing, to produce performances that makes the manager think I’m worthy of it.

“The boys were brilliant and could have grabbed a couple more. We were solid as a team and restricted them to very little. Keeping that clean sheet, you’re always more likely to win the game.

“It was a big step up. You watch Hamsik at home in World Cups and Euros. You just need to be on your toes.”
