Shane Duffy silenced a Brighton supporter who criticised the club for paying his wages to ship him out on loan - while charging fans £15 per game to watch on TV.

The Celtic defender addressed the speculation after being challenged on social media about his pay packet.

Sharing a photo of Seagulls chief executive Paul Barber looking disgruntled, the fan compared the reaction to charging fans on a pay-per-view basis. The supporter then followed it up with a smiley photo of Barber, comparing the reaction to 'Paying Shane Duffy 25k a week to play for another club'.

Duffy, 28, hit back and set the record straight, insisting the Hoops pay all his wage. He said: "Someone sent me this feel like have to respond. Celtic pay my full wages sorry.

"Still don’t think it’s right to charge 15 quid for a match though.” His tweet racked up thousands of likes and shares.

Supporters have been critical of the new PPV plan in the Premier League for matches not being broadcast on Sky Sports or BT Sport.
