Celtic fans' annual convention in Las Vegas 2021 has been cancelled amid coronavirus fears.

Hoops supporters were left devastated at the news the yearly get together would have to be scrapped while the pandemic continues to threaten the globe. Fans from around the world, including thousands in Glasgow and further afield in Scotland, bought travel packages including flights, hotel rooms and tickets for events held by the North American Federation Celtic Supporters' Club.

However the NAFCSC has now confirmed the worst, that they will have to cancel 2021 event which would usually include events such as a pool party, dinner dance and golf day, from June 6-13.

Sharing a statement on social media, the NAFCSC said: "Hail Hail. Bhoys/Ghirls after some heavy thoughts and debates and talking to the Committee members of the Nafcsc. We have come to the decision to cancel the Convention for June 2021.

"This was not a decision that came lightly but due to the way things are going with Covid-19 we feel there is no other choice. I have spoke to the Hotel and if anyone still wants to go then they will honour the booking as is,if not you can get your deposit back. I have also spoke to the Travel agent Stewart Travel and they will be informing all clients of what they can do. The hotel have given me dates for June 13th till June 20th 2022 so Ten in a row just may be a 11 in a row party."

The statement goes on to explain that the group was advised to hold off on the event from doctors as 'a hell of a lot of people would go home with the virus'. Fans can still contact the group - as well as travel agents who dealt with the bookings - to discuss their options for changing dates or, potentially, going ahead with their holiday.

The NAFCSC has been approached for comment.
