Castore have confirmed they are to open a new Rangers store in Buchanan Galleries.

The manufacturers of Gers' 2020/21 kits have previously revealed plans for new stores and products for supporters to get their hands on. Castore recently revamped the Ibrox megastore outside the stadium and a Light Blues shop has been in St Enoch Square since December 2018.

But a new store is set to open in the Galleries to provide fans with more of an opportunity to purchase the new kits as well as new, unique products produced by Castore as part of the pair's partnership.

A photo emerged on social media appearing to confirm the new store would be ready to open as early as this week. However, when confirming to the Glasgow Times that a new plot had been agreed, a Castore spokesperson explained that NO opening date had been locked in.

We told recently how Castore's agreement with Gers had seen a significant upturn in sales figures on products from the sportswear. They were, however, involved in some controversy following the launch of the new kits when quality was questioned, with some jerseys being made in Turkey while others were said to be made in China.

The Liverpool-based brand were also forced to dump their delivery service after fans complained of delays and sabotage to kits. The company provided an apology over the kit issue at the time, saying: "It has been brought to our attention that a small number of the pro home shirts have been dispatched early and in error through the Rangers online store (these being different to the replica shirts, which are made in Turkey). This shirt was released in error as the pro shirt (made in China) is not due for general release until 24th August.

"It is heartening to see that the comments are positive about both variants, however, we apologise for the confusion caused.

"We would also like to address concerns highlighted regarding the junior lifestyle sweatshirts, which were sold in limited numbers in the Rangers store.

"In order to meet both the high demand and short timescales required for an August release, the decision was taken to outsource the manufacture of this product to a third party, which is not common practice for Castore.

"This has caused some upset amongst fans, for which we apologise unreservedly.

"This item has now been withdrawn from sale and, should a refund be required, please speak to the security staff at the Rangers store and they will allow you straight into store.

"Our staff will then be on hand and will of course be happy to action this for you."
