Former Celtic defender Alan Stubbs reckons Shane Duffy has it in him to get the better of Alfredo Morelos in Saturday's Old Firm derby.

Duffy is likely to square-off against the Rangers striker in the first clash of the season between the two Glasgow giants. Stubbs has been impressed with the Brighton loanee thus far in his short spell at Parkhead. And he believes the 'old-fashioned' style of the Irishman will stand him in good stead for the physical battle against El Buffalo.

And it is the physical side of the game where Stubbs sees Duffy coming out on top as Morelos will not have come up against anyone in Scotland as strong as the Celtic man. And, as long as Duffy remains focused on just the football, he'll be difficult to beat, according to the Englishman.

"[Duffy] will relish the Alfredo Morelos confrontation at the weekend, as long as he keeps it in check and doesn't get too involved," he told the Scottish Sun. "Morelos won't have come up against a stronger centre-half in Scotland than Shane.

"You have to pick your fights, and I don't think Morelos picking a fight with Shane is one the Rangers striker would win. He may win it in other aspects, but certainly not from a physical aspect. Shane's such an asset in both boxes.

"He's an old-fashioned throwback to a centre back. He will throw any part of his body on the line and that's a great attribute to have."
