Celtic’s calls for Ryan Christie to be made available for today’s derby have been rejected.
The Hoops playmaker has been self-isolating since his time on international duty with Scotland when he came in ‘close contact’ with Stuart Armstrong who tested positive for Covid-19.
Former teammate Kieran Tierney was also forced to isolate for 14 days in accordance with strict government guidelines but Arsenal had hoped to cut that period of time short for tomorrow’s Manchester City clash.
Celtic had also been desperate to have a similar outcome with Christie, but the Scots government have refused the request. A Scottish Government spokesperson said: “Our national guidance in Scotland is clear - if you are identified as a close contact of someone who has tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19), you will be asked to self-isolate immediately for 14 days.”
Celtic are already without Nir Bitton and Hatem Elhamed who both tested positive for the virus while Odsonne Edouard will he assessed before kick-off.
