Neil Lennon would have been FURIOUS with the decision to allow Kieran Tierney to play for Arsenal against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon, according to Alan Hutton.

The former Rangers defender reckons Celtic's boss would have watched Tierney take to the field in a rage after Ryan Christie was not allowed to take part in the Hoops' clash with Rangers the same day. It came as Covid-19 tore through the Scotland camp when Stuart Armstrong contracted the virus. Tierney and Christie were forced to self-isolate for 14 days as 'close contacts' of their teammate.

The Scottish Government permitted KT to play in his side's big game but refused Christie the same opportunity as Celts faltered and lost 2-0 at home to the Light Blues. Lennon's side already had Hatem Elhamed, Nir Bitton and Odsonne Edouard all missing through coronavirus.

Rangers hero Hutton reckons Tierney's role in the Arsenal XI following an appeal from the Gunners will have infuriated Lennon - as will the differing rules in different countries. "He’ll be absolutely raging, if I was him I’d be gutted, especially seeing Tierney play," Hutton told Football Insider

"The rules are a bit all over the place. It’s very difficult to try and figure it out from one area of the country to the next. It doesn’t surprise me he wasn’t able to play.

"What can you do? It’s kind of rules that are out of his hands, it’s not something that he can do but you have to deal with it and this is why you have a big squad. You have a squad of players where there’s a chance, an opportunity, for you to come in and do well.

"A lot of them didn’t so Neil Lennon is going to have to revert to bringing these boys back in as soon as possible."
