Rangers begin their Europa League group stage campaign in Belgium on Thursday night as they take on a Standard Liege.

It is the third year in a row Steven Gerrard’s team have successfully battled through the qualifiers and the Light Blues will be looking to at least match last year’s run to the last 16.

Here Herald and Times Sport has predicted the Gers starting XI.

Formation: 4-3-2-1

Allan McGregor

A man for the big occasion. Expect him to start in between the sticks for Gers as they start their Europa League campaign tonight.

Borna Barisic

Top performance against Jeremie Frimpong at the weekend. Will look to bomb forward as much as possible against Liege and will aim to continue his fine form defensively.

Filip Helander

Has been really impressive at the heart of Rangers' defence in recent weeks. Didn't put a foot wrong at the weekend and will be hoping for more of the same this evening.

Connor Goldson

Only a late injury blow would keep this man out. Assured defensively and a double against Celtic. Steven Gerrard will be hoping that the defender can find himself on the scoresheet again.

James Tavernier

The Ibrox skipper will be the first name on the team sheet. Has been a major attacking threat for Gers and was brilliant against Celtic.

Ryan Jack

Expect the Scotland international to replace Steven Davis in the Gers starting XI. Can count himself unlucky that he didn't start last weekend but will be given the nod tonight.

Scott Arfield

Loves a goal in the Europa League and another figure in the Gers midfield who can add to the counter attack. Could even be pushed forward into a more attacking role if need be.

Glen Kamara

Man of the match against Celtic. Was all over the park with his endless energy and his passing was sublime. Could be important in a match like tonight when the game will be stretched.

Ryan Kent

Another big night for a big name player. Will be aiming to add to his impressive tally of goals and assists so far this season. Can he work his magic once again?

Ianis Hagi

Brandon Barker had a quiet afternoon in the Old Firm so Ianis Hagi will likely be given a starting role against Standard. Still hasn't hit the heights of his loan spell, but you get the feeling it could just take one good game to kick start his season.

Alfredo Morelos

Will be looking to add to his impressive European goal record. Never really had a sight of goal against Celtic and will be aiming to be more of a threat in Belgium.
