STANDARD LIEGE have confirmed a further three positive Coronavirus cases following their Europa League clash with Rangers.
The Belgians were without Michel-Ange Balikwisha, Nicolas Raskin and Moussa Sissako for the Group D opener on Thursday night after the trio, and goalkeeping coach Jan Van Steenberghe, tested positive in the aftermath of their league clash with Club Brugge.
Steven Gerrard’s side were 2-0 winners - thanks to goals from James Tavernier and Kemar Roofe - at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne and Maxime Lestienne, who started the match, and unused substitute Eden Shamir have now tested positive.
Both players, alongside Abdoul Fessal Tapsoba, will now miss the second Europa clash with Benfica next week.
A statement read: “Maxime Lestienne, Eden Shamir and Abdoul Fessal Tapsoba have tested positive for Covid-19.
“Early in the afternoon on Friday, the entire delegation of the Rouches underwent another Covid-19 test prior to Sunday's league game on the STVV field.
“We received the results on Saturday early afternoon and it showed that Maxime, Eden and Abdoul are positive.
“The affected players were immediately quarantined and will therefore not be present at the training that is scheduled this afternoon at 4 pm.
“They will not participate in the matches on Sunday in STVV and next Thursday in Benfica.”
