GARY MCALLISTER is delighted to have strong competition for places in the middle of the park as Rangers get set to welcome Bongani Zungu into the Ibrox ranks.

The Light Blues continued their fine form with a 2-0 win over Livingston on Sunday as they moved six points clear of Celtic at the top of the table.

Joe Aribo opened the scoring at Ibrox as he marked his return to the starting line-up with a neat finish to stake his claim for a berth against Lech Poznan this week.

Boss Steven Gerrard is not short of midfield options at present and assistant McAllister is keen to see Zungu added to the mix following his move from Amiens earlier this month.

McAllister said: “Zungu is still in quarantine but I think he becomes available to train with us just prior to Poznan.

“So that’s very encouraging. It adds to our strength in the middle of the park.

“We are all big fans of Joe Aribo here. I think he has been missed. Visually, he looks in a good place  as far as where his body shape is.

“He is in  great nick. He has probably put a wee bit of muscle on his upper body.

“We expect big things from Joe. He’s a very talented player. And he can  play in two or three different positions. We are pleased to get him back on the pitch.”
