Former Rangers and Hearts striker Jon Daly has joined another ex-Ger Jonatan Johansson as his assistant at TPS in Finland.

The latter took over role as manager in Turku back in July for his first role since leaving Greenock Morton. JJ signed a two-year deal at the club and has finally moved to secure his assistant in Daly.

The pair worked together on their coaching course and hope to bring success to the club this season.

Daly will also work as the head coach with the TPS under-23s.

The retired striker has coaching experience having worked at Hearts under Craig Levein and then Austin MacPhee. He also had a brief spell in caretaker charge of the Jambos before Daniel Stendel entered the club.

We told previously how Johansson was delighted to take the manager's position. "It is a great honour for me to be able to return to the company that is important to me," he told the club's website when he was appointed.

"During my time as a young player, I gained responsibility and the opportunity to go abroad as well. I also got to end my entire player career in the ranks of TPS.

"The club really means a lot to me and now there are new challenges ahead as head coach. I will come to Turku this weekend, get to know the team and the backgrounds, and after that the daily work in front of TPS will start."
