HIBERNIAN
Ofir Marciano 6
Wasn’t called into action all that often but did everything that was asked of him. Could do nothing for the goal.
Josh Doig 6
Lost a couple of individual battles with Wighton but the 18-year-old can be fairly pleased with his overall performance.
Paul Hanlon 7
Assured at the back from the club stalwart. Composed on the ball and a real defensive presence.
Ryan Porteous 5
Largely solid outing from the centre-half, but lost Wighton at the back post for Hearts’ goal.
Paul McGinn 5
Decent performance from the full-back. Linked up well with Boyle and kept Hearts quiet down their left. Gave away a soft penalty.
Alex Gogic 6
Sat at the base of midfield and was industrious as ever. Protected the defence and distributed the ball well.
Joe Newell 6
Was a real threat from set-pieces and covered plenty of ground in midfield.
Kyle Magennis 5
Should really have opened the scoring in the first half but was denied by a well-timed block from Smith.
Martin Boyle 7
Strong performance down the right. Was a regular menace with his crosses in towards the back post.
Christian Doidge 6
The big Welshman spurned a glorious chance in the first half but made up for it in the second to pull Hibs level.
Kevin Nisbet 4
Only denied a first-half goal by a stunning save from Gordon and faded as the game went on. Missed a penalty at 1-1.
Substitutes
Jamie Murphy (for Magennis, 61’) 4
Used his pace well and was at his best when driving forward on the counter.
Sean Mackie (for Doig, 87’) 3
Quiet performance.
Stevie Mallan (for Gogic, 115’) N/A
Not enough time to make impact.
HEARTS
Craig Gordon 8
Incredible stop to deny Nisbet in the first half. Impressed throughout and could do little to stop Doidge’s goal.
Stephen Kingsley 6
Had the unenviable task of marking Boyle but did so well enough.
Mihail Popescu 6
A solid but unspectacular display from the former St Mirren defender. The penalty he gave away looked extremely harsh.
Craig Halkett 6
Generally fared well but will be disappointed to have been beaten to the ball for Doidge’s goal.
Michael Smith 6
Comfortable with the ball at his feet and gave little away at the back.
Andy Halliday 5
Showed a sign of things to come with a heavy challenge early on and ended up in the book for a silly tackle in the second half.
Olly Lee 7
Superb assist to break the deadlock and covered a lot of ground in midfield.
Jamie Walker 6
Was fairly lively in the final third but could have offered more. Took a couple of knocks and had to come off.
Jordan Roberts 5
Quiet afternoon from the winger. Tested Marciano with a pot shot early on but didn’t offer much else.
Craig Wighton 7
Showed flashes of promise out on the right but didn’t receive enough of the ball. Excellent header to break the deadlock.
Liam Boyce 6
Led the line admirably and worked hard throughout but missed a big chance when it finally arrived in the second half. Made up for it with the winning penalty.
Substitutes
Peter Haring (for Roberts, 56’) 5
Added physicality to the midfield.
Steven Naismith (for Walker, 56’) 6
Teed up Boyce for a great chance and looked dangerous.
Aidy White (for Wighton, 84’) 6
Won the all-important penalty.
Euan Henderson (for Lee, 96’) 5
Couple of nice passes.
Andy Irving (for Halliday, 118’) N/A
Not enough time to make impact.
