RANGERS will hold their annual Remembrance Day event at Ibrox this Sunday ahead of the Premiership fixture with Hamilton Accies.

The club will pay tribute those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country with a minute's silence, while players will wear commemorative shirts and a poppy will be placed in the centre circle before kick-off.

A number of the jerseys that Steven Gerrard's side will wear are to be be donated to services related charities, and in support of the Rangers Charity Foundation’s Armed Forces Fund, to raise further funds for serving personnel and veterans.

Covid-19 restrictions mean that Rangers and the Charity Foundation are unable to welcome veterans and their families to Ibrox for the game but free RangersTV passes will be distributed to the likes of Erskine and Poppyscotland so that service men and women can still see Gerrard's side in action this weekend.

A Rangers statement read: "Poppyscotland provides tailored support and funding to thousands of ex-Servicemen and women, as well as other vital services in advice, employment, mobility, respite, housing and mental health support.

"The charity reaches out to those who have served and those still serving, and also their families, at times of crisis and need by offering vital, practical assistance and funding.

"Thank you to all fans who are sure to give generously to this virtual collection, which will help veterans in Scotland receive the care and support they urgently need.

"Rangers Football Club and Rangers Charity Foundation signed the Armed Forces Covenant in October 2016 – a commitment to supporting the forces through services, policy and project.

"This commitment to veterans and serving personnel was celebrated when the club and Foundation received the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award in 2019, becoming the first British football club and club charity to do so.

"Work includes a range of initiatives, from supporting a number of service charities and providing community programmes for veterans via the Rangers Charity Foundation, to hosting an annual Armed Forces Day and activities around Remembrance Day."
