Ex-Aberdeen and Leeds striker Noel Whelan believes Celtic will finally sack Neil Lennon this week as he's 'lost the dressing room'.

Celts fell to a dismal 2-0 defeat to Ross County yesterday afternoon, losing their grip on the Betfred Cup and adding to a string of poor results that has seen just two wins from 10 matches.

Hoops fans had been hoping the Parkhead clash with the Staggies would be the turning point, but Ross Stewart and Alex Iacovitti's goals put Lennon's side to the sword and piled more pressure on the boss. Whelan now reckons the manager's time is up and the club will wield the axe this week.

Speaking to Football Insider, the hitman said: "He’s lost the dressing room. There is real problems at the club. It was the most embarrassing defeat for a long time. The manager was looking for a reaction, looking for his players to stand up and they did not. There is something wrong there now, something is not right between the manager and players.

"I think yesterday’s game was the final straw for Neil Lennon, quite frankly. I do not think he can turn it around now. Even if they win the next three of four games, something is not right at the football club.

"The defeat yesterday highlighted the big, big problems Celtic have. You have to beat Ross County at home in a cup game."
