Hibs chief Leeann Dempster has claimed the SPFL rescheduled their fixture with Celtic in January despite the Edinburgh outfit refusing permission.

The two sides were set to meet on January 9 at Parkhead in a usual 3pm kick-off but the SPFL confirmed the game had been changed to a January 11 date with a 7.45pm kick-off time after a 'club request'.

That did not sit well with the Leith club and Ms Dempster cleared the air for supporters - while accusing the SPFL of doing so without her knowledge and without telling club decision makers.

She said: "Apologies to our supporters and our head coach. This was done without my knowledge - we said no to the original request from Celtic because the request didn’t work for our club. The SPFL appears to have agreed this without a call to the decision makers at our club.

"We are fizzing about this -@spfl know I am leaving soon (ish) but they still have my mobile number so a call should have been easy to do - or @gmathie82 or even to our Chairman. Not good enough. Move to Monday without asking us?"

The SPFL have been approached for comment.
