Andy Halliday reckons Rangers may struggle to hold onto James Tavernier next month, with clubs bound to be considering a move for the defender.

Tavernier's goals and assists ratio is incredible for a right-back, with the Englishman having already scored 14 goals in all competitions and laying on 10 for his teammates. That form will have scouts from down south and further afield sniffing around, with Newcastle previously being linked as a potential destination.

Halliday is not surprised, having played alongside the ex-Wigan star, and admits he'd be surprised if there was not at least interest registered in the January transfer window.

Speaking on Open Goal, the Hearts midfielder said: "Take away his penalties, he has still scored six goals. How can a team not be watching that? Everyone has their price, I think he would wait until the summer.

"But if a team sits down and offers double, triple your money – some people are going to get their head turned."
