Celtic fans were not happy with goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas's performance against AC Milan yesterday evening - and they let their stopper know it.

Fans took to social media to criticise the Greek star's showing as he conceded four goals in Italy including a Hakan Calhanoglu free-kick that he especially should have done better with. The goalie has been unconvincing since he joined on a four-year deal from AEK Athens earlier this summer and last night's performance did nothing to relieve the pressure.

Scott Bain was benched despite playing ahead of the £5million stopper on a handful of occasions this season so far. But Barkas' emergence did not go well. One fan moaned: "There has to be an inquest into the signing of Vasilis Barkas," and another added: "Celtic signing Vasilis Barkas. Hard to think of a worse use of £5million in football right now to be brutally honest."

One joked: "What's the point in Vasilis Barkas! At this rate I'd get a game for Celtic. Should I get the gloves looked oot?" And a fourth wrote on social media: "Heard the vaccine is actually blood from Vasilis Barkas as scientists worked out he can't catch anything."

Barkas, 26, has played 16 games for the Hoops this season, keeping eight clean sheets. However he has conceded 17 goals.
