RANGERS have been handed a fine by UEFA after their match against Benfica kicked-off late.

The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body have handed the club a €10,000 fine after the match on November 26 started late.

Disciplinary hearings had originally been opened against manager Steven Gerrard for being responsible for the late kick-off, but they have since been dropped.

The fine must be paid within 90 days.

The UEFA webste reads: "Late kick-off, Art. 11(2)(h) DR and Late kick-off {Mr. Steven Gerrard}, Art. 11(2)(h) DR.

"The Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has decided:

> To fine Rangers FC €10,000 for being responsible for the late kick-off.

> The above fine must be paid within 90 days of communication of this decision.

> To close the disciplinary proceedings opened against Rangers FC coach, Mr. Steven Gerrard, for beingresponsible for the late kick-off.

> Rangers FC ensures that its coach is personally informed of this decision."

Borussia Dortmund were also fined for the same fee for a late kick-off.

Rangers play their final Europa League group stage match on Thursday against Lech Poznan.
