SERIE A giants Roma are mulling over a bid for Celtic defender Jeremie Frimpong, according to reports in Italy.

Sports newspaper La Gazzeta della Sport credit the Italian side with an interest in the young Dutchman as manager Paulo Fonesca continues his rebuild at the Stadio Olimpico.

The report says that Fonesca's agent, Marco Abreu, has been given instructions to reach out to Parkhead to discuss a potential move.

The Premiership champions have apparently quoted a fee of £13.5million for the services of the 20-year-old full-back.

Manchester City, Frimpong's former club, are said to have included a 30 per cent sell-on clause in the deal to bring the defender to Parkhead in 2019, and so would be due a sizeable chunk of any future fee.

Frimpong's current deal runs until the summer of 2023, which could leave the Hoops tempted to cash in on their asset before his value drops as his contract winds down.
