STEVEN GERRARD insists Rangers won't concern themselves with comments and criticisms from outside Ibrox after they proved their bottle to beat Motherwell on Saturday.

The Gers found themselves under scrutiny ahead of the Premiership clash following their shock Betfred Cup defeat to St Mirren that ended their unbeaten run and silverware ambitions in the competition.

A double from Kemar Roofe and a Cedric Itten strike were enough to see off the Steelmen as Rangers came back from a goal down to grind out an important win that extended their lead in the title race to 16 points.

“They did," Gerrard said when asked if Rangers showed their bottle in the closing stages at Ibrox. "Look, we can't control what people write about us, what ex-players and pundits say, what the media write about us.

“We can't control that and it's going to change from game to game. It's people's opinions.

“It's important we just focus on what we're trying to do inside and that's believe in each other and stick together whether that's win, lose or draw and believe that if we keep improving and moving forward our day will come.

“We need to try to block out the outside noise because we're playing at a club where you know and I know there a lot of opinions out there. And not all of them are right unfortunately."
